As some of you will be aware we attended the first round of three of the above league on Saturday 8th October travelling to Mansfield. At present we are competing in Division 2 of the West Midlands against much larger city clubs ranging geographically from Milton Keynes to Sheffield.
It is possible that some of the teams within the league have a much larger competitive membership including national and midland qualifying standard. Due to our lack of numbers we do not always have the right aged swimmer in each age group every year and a number of ours this year have had to swim in older age events.
There are penalties for non-attendance at galas of a fine £200 and suspension from the league. We entered this season with a high probability of relegation to Division 3 which realistically would be more suitable for us. Division 3 is split again into two sections North and South which hopefully would restrict the distances we would have to travel.
We are a competitive club and need to offer our swimmers the opportunity to swim against the best and need the support of parents through this difficult transition.
We have two other leagues which are currently under review and also intend to hold our own “friendly” galas at Ludlow and attend others if offered to help give swimmers valuable competitive experience.
