Well done to everyone. This was a great meet. OK, we came last because we don’t have enough swimmers in the right age groups at the moment to field a really competitive squad at this level, but this shouldn’t take away the fact everyone gave their all, and as a result we had some really good individual performances with many swimmers knocking a huge amount off their PBs.
It would be unfair to select one or two swimmers for praise as everyone swam really well, Nevertheless, it's worth noting that we had
• 2 firsts - Freya open free: and 15 girls med relay
• 3 seconds - 15 girls freestyle relay ;15 girls brs Chloe ; 15 girls fly Amy
• 7 thirds - Henry brs; Amy Fly; Ffion b/c; Jack b/c; Isla f/c; Ffion f/c; Girls 11 med relay
The 15-year-old girls narrowly missed out on a first in the 4 x 50 freestyle relay by less than one second but got their own back on rivals (Aylesbury) in probably the most exciting race of the evening by grabbing first by a margin of less than ¼ second in the Medley Relay.
Near misses were also recorded by Alice Martin in the 50 b/c missing third by less than half second and Ffion missing third in the 100 fly by only 1/10 of a second.
Congratulations to Ben Gutteridge who gallantly swam the 15-year-old boys b/c (not his favourite stroke) instead of his number one, but still managed to get fourth over Gloucester in a time of 1.24
Many thanks also to Ana Yapp and Alice Newcombe for the last minute plugging of unexpected gaps in the 11-year-old girls team, and also to Jack and Henry who made untimely appearances in the Mens Open!!!
