More about...

Adam Fear

When and where were you born? Adam Fear
  13th July 1992 in Hereford.

Where do you live and have you always lived there?

  Leominster; since i was born.
Which school/college do you go to and what do you think of it?

I did start at hereford sixth form but have just transfered to Ludlow. Hereford didn't do the course that I've decided to take. Joined 2 weeks late and i settled in well and i am really enjoying it.

Do you have any brothers or sisters? If so, are they involved in any sport?
Yes 1 brother, Matthew. He was a swimmer at the club until he retired!!! (He's 19)
Apart from swimming, what other sports do you enjoy?
  Basketball and athletics (javelin).
What do you do to relax?
Listen to music, watch tv/dvds and sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you could go on holiday anywhere you like, where would you go, what would you do?
Anywhere that is better than the English weather.
Could you describe a typical day in your life?

Kicked out of bed by mum then go to college for some learning and fun practical lessons. go home to eat then to swimming. Then home for coursework and more sleep.
How did you first get involved in swimming?
Started off with lessons at Leominster pool, then Kingfisher SC at Leominster.
What do you like about it?
Helps you meet new people at the competitions, it opens new doors i.e being selected for swim camps with british talent, and it is the best form of discipline for the rest of your life.
What is your best/favourite stroke?
Freestyle any distance but 100m is probably my best and favourite.
Where do you train/which club(s) do you swim for?
Train at Ludlow and Lucton and swim for Ludlow SC.
What role has Ludlow SC played in your swimming career?
I wouldn't be where i am now if it wasn't for them. All the coaches have been great to me, especially Dave and Tony.
Your greatest swimming achievement so far?
Gaining my 1st national qualifying time while only training 6hrs a week in 2007 .
What about your worst swimming moment?
Breaking my collar bone weeks before the Midland Championships in 2006.

Who has/have been most influential in your swimming career?
Tony Jones. He has been there from the start. He coached me at Kingfishers when i was 7 then i gave up for about 6months and he asked me to reconsider, not because i was good back then but because he was short of 9yr old boys. He must have been really desperate!!!! ever since then he worked with me and when i got national times unexpectedly for the first time he put in a lot of 1 to 1 work with me to improve my performance. cheers Tony

What have been the main swimming events for you in the past year?

Midland and National Champs, oh and my 1st open water event where i came 7th. BRrrrr, it was cold.

What are your goals for the coming year and for the more distant future?

Get back to fitness and concentrate on my main events, 50, 100, 200 and 400 F/C, I'm not going to do the longer distances this year. Then I'd like to continue my swimming at Uni while studying coaching or sports science and see where that gets me.
Do you have any tips for Ludlow SC swimmers?
Set yourself realistic goals for the coming year, then goals for 3 years time. Train hard and don't expect too much of yourself.Just keep training hard and attend as many sessions as possible. Listen to your coach/teacher, they're there to help you. Give yourself small goals rather than big ones, they are easier to achieve and it gives more incentive to keep going. But most of all have fun and enjoy it.
